ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Susan and I love design, architecture and decorating! Ever since I was a young child, I dreamed of being in a home that was warm, inviting and totally in style! My parents couldn’t afford to buy me the Barbie Dream House I so desperately wanted, so I built and designed my own Barbie “Dream Home” using pens and pencils to lay out the rooms, Kleenex boxes for built-in cabinets, and any piece of yarn, scrap fabric or old buttons to decorate with. My Barbies loved it! Not only that, I was constantly rearranging my bedroom and I told my parents I wanted to custom paint my room to give it a “cool and groovy vibe”. Unfortunately, in 1975 the popular colors were bright orange and yellow! I painted the furniture and accessorized until the cows came home and loved every minute of it! Thank goodness, those colors finally went out of style and I changed everything again!
Fast forward to college, and I knew that the degree for me was Architecture and Design. I earned my degree in Interior Architecture and have worked in commercial design for 15 years. My husband. Jim, is a builder and together we have built and sold several houses over the years as well as renovated older existing homes. I have worked with home Stagers, Architects, Contractors, Decorators and Kitchen Designers over the years as well.
WHY STAGING?
One thing I know for sure is that people will always be buying or selling a home. Single life, Married life, children, more children, divorce, empty nest, job relocation, you name it, there is a reason people are constantly relocating. In our fast-paced society, life situations are changing so quickly that when someone needs to relocate, they do not have months-on-end to sit around waiting for and hoping their house will sell. They need to sell and sell fast so they can get on with their own life’s dreams and goals. And, who doesn’t want to sell for top dollar? In many cases, your home is your largest investment and it is just smart to make as much money as possible so you can invest in your next “Dream Home”, business or whatever else strikes your fancy. It is a proven fact that staged homes sell faster and for more money than non-staged homes.
By staging your home, you can layer a beautiful tapestry for your potential buyer so they can imagine their own dreams coming true in their new home! For a relatively small investment and some time and energy, you can achieve an amazing look and feel in your home to entice your potential buyer to drop everything and linger in your home while they figure out a way to make this dream their reality! This feeling that you are providing will always result in a larger selling price!

The Self Styled Stager will help you to really study your home and look at it objectively, as if you were the buyer. On this website we will be sharing lots of ideas about what home staging is and ways you can incorporate design and decorating ideas to “wow” your interested customer and send them packing! Packing to move into your sold home, that is!
